The Innovative Women Of Vape -Cynthia Cabrera- Expert Vapor Industry Consultant

Cynthia Cabrera- Expert Vapor Industry Consultant

Cynthia Cabrera is an Expert Vapor Industry Consultant and vaping pioneer taking the industry by storm.

Her journey in the industry began as what she describes as a “fortuitous thing." In 2011 Cynthia was a consultant working with several top brands, developing educational tools, and giving marketing industry presentations to organizations like the World Bank and Oxfam.

When the vaping industry came knocking on her door, little did she know an incredible journey was about to begin. She began working at a company, which at the time, was one of the top three e-cig sellers in the country.

“I took a position with them as the VP of compliance and logistics. And the funny part is that up until then I didn't know what an e-cig was, it was 2011. I'd never heard of it, but I started reading up on it. And this was back in the days before the FDA brought the hammer down. I remember researching the company and finding videos by the CEO, and he was just talking about how he had quit smoking using the product and how everybody should quit smoking using this product,” said Cynthia.

A lot of what this CEO said is no longer legally allowed language, but at that time his word resonated with her for very personal reasons.

“I don't talk about it a lot, but my father died of throat cancer. He was a smoker from the time he was 12 years old. I'm from the Dominican Republic. And there was not a lot of anti-smoking education going on. And so my father had smoked basically his entire adult life.”

For Cynthia the vaping industry quickly became about more than e-cigarettes; it was a vehicle by which people could quit smoking cigarettes and presented a world of possibilities.

Today, Cynthia educates consumers on the truths of the industry while advocating and fighting for the rights to ensure the industry succeeds. She previously served as the Executive Director of the Smoke-Free Alternatives Trade Association and now uses her skill set, industry knowledge and passion to be of service to the industry.

This path has opened her eyes to unexpected realities and challenged her ideas. However, the challenges and the process has been worth it.

“My experience in general in the vape space has been spectacular. I mean, and I will say that one of the great gifts this industry has given me is wonderful friends,” she shared. “But I have become so wary of government and government regulation because of going through this process and going and doing this work. It’s really opened my eyes to the machine. We were not prepared for the Juggernaut of tobacco control that's out there,” she added.

It’s an uphill battle, but Cynthia feels strongly about people getting informed and involved. She recommends users and enthusiasts visit the Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association (CASAA) website for up to date information.

Cynthia is one of many defining female leaders of the vape industry. To learn more about these vital players, keep up to date with our weekly articles throughout the month of March.
